“Presenting Sederibacteria, a novel bacterial genus specific to the subsurface”
The Biddle Lab is in the School of Marine Science and Policy, College of Earth, Ocean and Environment University of Delaware. They used bioinformatic techniques to examine microbial communities, in addition to cultivation and geochemistry. They ask a range of questions going from subsurface life to host-associated microbiomes.
Dr Biddle got her B.S. with Honors in Biotechnology from Rutgers University, USA in 1999. Afterwards she got her Ph.D. from Biochemistry and Molecular Biology, Pennsylvania State University in 2006. Currently she is an Professor at College of Earth, Ocean and Environment, University of Delaware. Dr Biddle awarded the International Ocean Drilling Program Distinguished Lecturer (2013-2014) and named inspirational young woman in microbiology (2013). She also won NASA Postdoctoral Fellowship from National Astrobiology Institute along 2007-2009. In her early career she awarded Wedler Outstanding Doctoral Dissertation Award, Penn State BMB Department in 2007
